Boosting pathogen genomics capacity for enteric surveillance in the Asia-Pacific region

Professor Ben Howden and Tuyet Hoang, from MDU PHL, have been appointed as co-coordinators of PulseNet Asia Pacific, a regional arm of PulseNet International. The Centre for Pathogen Genomics and MDU PHL have hosted two cohorts of trainees from nine countries for training in whole genome sequencing approaches for public health action. The training, held from January to February, aims to build genomic sequencing capacity for AMR surveillance of enteric pathogens through the Global Antimicrobial Resistance Laboratory and Response Network program.
